Trading or bartering is an exchange of goods or services. For example, two artists each making a piece of art and giving it to the other-- that would be an art trade! I've never done it before, but I hear about it a lot on the Internet and it sounds really fun. I want to take this idea and expand it to include favors, like running errands and helping with moving boxes. Let me know if you'd be open to try out such a trade with me-- or if you're a stranger just browsing my website, I hope this list inspires you to try out a trade with one of your friends too!
I can offer you:
- Crochet (custom blankets but also garments, accessories, tapestries etc... basically anything that doesn't require stuffing)
- Knitting (ask!)
- Amateurly baked goods and desserts. I love to bake, but I'm not a professional by any means.
- Home-cooked hot food, if you live close enough I could just drop it off at your door ^_^
- Home-cooked freezer meals. Like I can cook up a batch of freezer/reheat-friendly food, and you can store it in your freezer, and just reheat to eat it. I've heard someone do this for a new-parent friend of theirs who had no time/energy to cook.
- I'm no hairstylist, but I can shave your head!
- Iron/fold your clothes
- Clean your bathroom or kitchen
- Catsitting
- Friendship bracelets
- Hem your pants
- Use of my items: shop vacuum, Dyson ball vacuum, stand mixer, air fryer, Instant Pot, orbital palm sander, garment steamer, iron, air mattress
- I have a Costco membership
- Some physical labor: help with moving boxes, furniture assembly
- Amateur stained glass pieces
- Probably other stuff that I don't remember. Ask me!
I'm seeking:
- Use of your printer. The library printer doesn't have a way to adjust margins and stuff, so I cannot reliably print sewing patterns from it. They also restrict access to the paper drawer, so I can't switch out the paper to print on sticker paper, iron-on transfer paper, temporary tattoo paper, etc.
- Driving me to/from places that don't have public transit, like some hiking spots.
- Keeping me company while I do a chore/errand I don't want to do
- Custom ceramic piece
- A haircut ("men's" style)
- Crafting supplies like yarn, beads, fabric, stickers
- Physical labor: help with home renovations/DIY projects
- Tailoring (or help me learn tailoring :D)
- If you're a software engineer and have conducted coding interviews-- practice coding interviews
- Food/baked goods
- Probably other stuff! Ask me!
